I like this work

I like Kathryn Andrews’ work. Interesting that she is curating a show called “Modern Lovers,” because “Modern” sounds so boring and stuffy to me, interested in formal concerns like support and frame. Kathryn, who attended Art Center at the time as me, does indeed have formal concerns, (like inside and outside, balance and tension) but manages to keep an amazing sense of playfulness. Honestly, it reminds of the Miro show I show many many moons ago in Montreal. It makes me want to be an art collector. FYI, she is also producing a book of interviews for the show – and to prep for the interviews, she read a book recommended by two of our (more famous) teachers, Mike Kelly and Jeremy Gilbert-Rolfe, called the Five Faces of Modernism. I’m wondering if it’s any good?
