movie weekend

The Da Vinci Code (imdb 6.1/10) was better than I expected. Audrey Tatou is gorgeous and adorable. If I could look like anybody else, it might have to be her. I hadn’t known that The Da Vinci Code was such an international hit; apparently it is the second highest grossing movie of 2006. And Akiva Goldsman who wrote the screenplay might be the highest paid screen-writer of all time when he gets paid for doing the prequel, Angels and Demons.

Monster House (imdb 6.8/10.0) was surprisingly entertaining as well – but be warned, it is scary! Too scary for little little ones. Bella was practically buried in my armpit under the covers – but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that a team like Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg would come up with a fun twisted haunted house story. We try and watch as many Zemeckis movies as we can – perfect for pre-teens (all the Back to the Future movies, Romancing the Stone…) Bella is watching it again – with all the lights on, and I can hear her laughing from here. Small appearance by Napoleon Dynamite’s voice and Maggie Gyllenhaal plays the babysitter.
